Welcome Home...
For those that just arrived, Welcome home! BJ and CindyFor those that have been here before welcome back. We are your hosts, BJ 'n Cindy. We own and operate this site as well as the sister sites.

As a retired Marine couple, we know just how new and puzzling, and sometimes how lonely or difficult it can be to find what you need. That is why we created this network and filled it with all kinds of resources to help you find whatever you may need... and to find one another.

So once again Welcome Home...

It's no secret that many veterans can experience difficulties caring for themselves as they transition back to civilian life. Self-care can be difficult to prioritize for many veterans and their families, whether they've just returned home or were in service many years ago. Luckily, self-care can be made easy with just a few small lifestyle changes that don't sacrifice a lot of money or time. Military Wives Network invites you to check out some of the ways veterans can keep their minds healthy to live life to its fullest

Living a Healthier Lifestyle

Making some changes to your lifestyle can go a long way for your self-care. Start incorporating small habits, such as getting light exercise a few days a week and eating less sugary foods. Exercising doesn't mean you have to break the bank and join a gym either; you can set up your own home gym using minimal equipment. Try looking at beginner exercise routines, and incorporate new exercises slowly.

While making changes to your lifestyle, you can also work with online medical professionals to better understand your own needs. Reliable medical care is as easy as using your phone to sign up for a virtual visit, and you'll often find a wider variety of care and treatment options. Additionally, online appointments are generally more affordable than in-person appointments, making them a great option.

Learn To Manage Negative Emotions

Part of self-care is knowing your own thoughts and being able to manage emotions. Negative emotions can hinder your communication and cause many problems, especially if you're a small business owner. A healthy body helps create a healthy mind, so make sure you get enough sleep, eat well, and exercise regularly. Additionally, find a mentor or coach to vent to, discuss solutions for your negative emotions, and explore what causes them in the first place.

Ways To Relieve Stress

Built-up stress can have a lasting impact on your mental health, so it is important to have outlets to relax and release all that stress. Everybody has different ways of relaxing, but there are plenty of small changes you can make now to reduce some of your stress.

  • Clean and declutter your home. Addressing these issues now before more clutter piles up is a great way to create a positive and healing atmosphere at home.
  • Practice meditation. Taking just 10 minutes a day to do a meditation practice can have profound effects on your stress management.
  • Spend time with a hobby. Whether it is sports, gardening, woodworking, or any other hobby, spending time doing something you love can help you to relax and de-stress.
  • Go for regular walks. Walking or any other form of light exercise is a great way to boost your mood and help relieve stress.

Whatever method you choose, be sure you have a couple of activities you can do to relieve your stress. Doing so is a great way for veterans and families to practice self-care regularly.
