A few tips to get you started

To make an overseas move smoother, you just have to know where to look for support. Here are a few resources to consider:

The Transportation Management Office, TMO, is your first step for logistical details regarding your move. They can help coordinate all aspects of shipping your household goods and provide details on your moving allowances and shipment of your vehicles. To find your local office, use the TMO locator.

A sponsor-someone living where you’re headed-can help answer many of your questions about your new location. Most branches will assign you a sponsor, but in some cases you have to request one. To find out about sponsorship at your new assignment, visit your installation’s web page.

Most installations have a Facebook page that can be a wonderful source of information. Be sure to visit your installation’s site to get the lowdown on what’s happening in your new community.

Pets are accepted in most locations, but be sure to check out the “Shipping Pets” section on your installation’s web page to find out about registration, quarantines, vet services and for information about any breeds that may be banned.

Contact Military OneSource today and let a spouse relocation and transition consultant help make your transition overseas a little easier.
