FREEDOM ; A SEABEE'S POEM

Hello, my name is Stephanie Edgar and my husband is in
NMCB 4 of the USN in  Kuwait/Iraq at the current moment
and I would like to share a poem with you  that he wrote
and sent home.

FREEDOM ; A SEABEE'S POEM
BY:  BU3 (SCW) TIMOTHY M. EDGAR

As I look up at the stars in the night,
I try to realize why it is that I am here to fight.
Wiping the sand  out of my eye,
I think of those brave troops that will die.
A voice whispers, stay strong; this I will try.
Red, white, and blue flying high in the air,
Begins to remind me of those at home who care.
Kids begin to clutter the streets,
Hoping that you have brought them treats.
Innocent lives begin to fall,
I ask "Is this worth it all?"
A tear begins to form, crawling like a snail,
As the troops receive their first true piece of mail.
Parents, kids, friends, and wives,
All writing the same, I love you, take care and protect your
life.
Still trying to stay tough, brave, and strong,
Many believe the fight we are in is wrong.
As I look up at the stars in the night,
I now begin to realize why it is I am here to fight:
FREEDOM!
