Poetry Daddy

Why do you have to go

Why do you have to go

Why do you have to go I pray.
Even though I know what you'll  say.
For the people who died on 9/11.
Taken out of evil and brought  up to heaven.
To get the bad guys my daughter would tell you.
Then be  strong despite the pain she goes through.
To fight for our country and for  our freedom.
Take the war to them and then beat em’.
Although the pain is  great inside.
I choke tears back and the feelings I must hide.
As you walk  away I must wonder.
If you could possibly know the pain I am under.
As a  single tear falls down my cheek.
How can I be strong when I feel so  week.
We walk away and wave goodbye.
I hold the girls close and start to  cry.
I know I will have to answer one day.
Why did my Daddy have to go  away?
To fight for freedom for you and for me.
So all of the world can  live happily.
Your Daddy is special in that way.
But I promise he  will be back one day.
I will stand proud and let them know.
That is  why your Daddy had to go.
